Freedom of speech: ICT must help, not hinder

Viviane Reding, the Commissioner responsible for Information Society and Media this week gave a speech on the EU’s response to the US Global Online Freedom Act. Looking mainly at internet freedom, Reding pointed out the pitfalls of trying to legislate to protect internet users whilst guaranteeing freedom for businesses that primarily trade online.
